In 2006, Jones Day was named "International Arbitration Firm of the Year" at the Asian Legal Business Southeast Asia Law Awards. This recognition marks the second consecutive year in which Jones Day has been ranked as the top arbitration firm in Southeast Asia. In 2005, Jones Day was named International Law Firm of the Year at the Asian Legal Business China Law Awards. This award is given to the firm that has been voted the most highly regarded for both domestic and cross-border transactions by clients and peers in China. The award recognizes work on high-profile deals in a number of specialties across the region, as well as brand recognition, a demonstrated commitment to Asia and the firm's ability to leverage its global network.

Our continued strong growth throughout the region reflects Asia's increasingly prominent role in the global economy and Jones Day’s commitment to serving our clients' needs worldwide. Part of our growth strategy is consistently to add lawyers of the highest caliber to each of our offices in the region. Moreover, because our Asia offices practice closely with those in the U.S. and Europe, we often hire candidates with an Asia-practice focus, skills, or credentials in other offices across the Firm.

Jones Day has been practicing in Greater China for more than 20 years. We are one of the only fully integrated international law firms with offices in Mainland China (Beijing and Shanghai), Hong Kong, and Taiwan (Taipei). We advise U.S., European, and Asian multinationals and other investors on their activities in Greater China. We also advise Chinese corporations and institutions on their investments and activities in the region and worldwide, including in litigation and intellectual property matters. (Like all international law firms, Jones Day does not practice PRC law.)

Our Tokyo Office has one of the largest groups of Japanese lawyers practicing in an international law firm. We handle significant representations of Japanese companies in their Japanese and international activities, as well as representations of multinationals on Japan-related matters.

Our Southeast Asia practice, based in Singapore, is active in transactions and disputes, including international arbitrations throughout Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

We recently launched our domestic Australian practice in Sydney. Supplementing our longtime international transactional and capital markets practice there for Australian companies, this expansion allows us to better serve both Australian and international clients in need of local and global services.

We constantly search for exceptional lawyers to join us in our Asia practice. We are interested in the long term: starting in our hiring process and continuing throughout your career, we are focused on identifying, developing, and nurturing the most promising candidates to ensure that you will contribute to Jones Day in multiple ways over your long careers with us. We expect you to learn to practice law at the highest level and realize your full potential as lawyers by working closely with your colleagues in our open, dynamic, and team-based environment. In turn, Jones Day offers you the opportunity to become part of a diverse, fully integrated Asia practice in a global law firm.

Our hiring criteria and needs in Asia are flexible and dynamic. Across offices and practices, we may look for candidates who are locally licensed or U.S.- or U.K.-licensed; who can read, write, and practice law in multiple languages (including English and the language of the jurisdiction in which you intend to practice), or who are fluent only in English; and who are fresh out of law school or who have years of practice experience either in Asia or elsewhere. We offer summer associate programs in which selected students at U.S. law schools may spend half of the summer working in a U.S. office and the other half in one of our Asia-Pacific offices. These programs provide an entry point for students potentially interested in a career path that includes working for a year or more in one of our U.S. offices before relocating to an Asia-Pacific office or, in certain circumstances joining us in an Asia-Pacific office directly upon graduation from law school. Regardless of which skills, experience, or qualifications make you an exceptional candidate to join our practice, we encourage you to contact us to explore your opportunities at Jones Day.
