Jones Day's practice is organized across 22 different areas. New lawyers joining us out of law school are not expected to select a practice until they have been with us for about a year, during which time they gain exposure to a variety of practices and lawyering styles. Once an associate joins a practice, he or she becomes part of an integrated team of lawyers spread throughout our offices worldwide.
We have attempted to convey, through the words of the associates whose experiences are described on these pages, a sense of the quality, complexity, and diversity of the projects on which our associates work. We encourage you to read the testimonials and the more detailed information in the Practices link on the left. Most important, we encourage you to talk with our lawyers on campus and in our offices about their work.

I am a fifth-year intellectual property litigator. One of the great aspects of my job is that each case I work on focuses on unique technologies and products, ranging from wireless communications and bar code scanners to rearview mirrors and snowplow blades.

I work with attorneys in several Jones Day offices and with international co-counsel every day. My work has afforded me exciting opportunities to expand my horizons and I have more than frequent flyer miles to show for it.

My first year saw me actively involved in a private equity investment, two IPOs, a hostile takeover of a publicly quoted real estate company, the acquisition of a well-known London hotel, and the acquisition of a pharmaceutical product portfolio by a publicly quoted company-a challenging and very rewarding start!
