Jones Day supports the "City of Big Shoulders" and its corporate, cultural and community-based organizations. In addition to representing pillars of the local business community, the lawyers in the Chicago Office serve on various cultural, civic and charitable boards and handle a variety of pro bono matters. A substantial percentage of the pro bono hours contributed by our lawyers is devoted to seeking asylum for refugees who have been persecuted in their home countries because of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group; representing Chicago public high school students in expulsion hearings; and transactional work for charitable organizations. In addition, the Chicago Office supports a multitude of educational, legal aid, and civic programs, including Chicago Volunteer Legal Services, Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic, National Immigrant Justice Center, After School Matters, Working in the Schools (WITS), Mentor Teacher Brother, and various local charter schools.
