Dave Heiman concentrates his practice in the representation of debtors, financial institutions, creditors, and other parties in restructuring matters, chapter 11 cases and distressed M&A, and in commercial litigation and general commercial law.
Dave has played a key role in many of the country's largest chapter 11 and business restructuring matters such as those for Allied Stores Corporation and Federated Department stores in their own chapter 11 cases, as well as in the R.H. Macy case; Boscov's Department Stores; USG Corporation; LTV Corp.; Oglebay Norton Corp.; Burlington Industries, Inc.; Pillowtex Corp.; Imperial Home Decor Group, Inc.; Phar-Mor, Inc.; Paragon Trade Brands, Inc.; Kendavis Industries; Carmike Cinemas; Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation; Olympia & York; Child World, Inc./Cole National Corporation; Cardinal Industries; and White Motor Corp. In addition, he has represented financial institutions in reorganization matters, commercial transactions, and litigation, including in connection with the chapter 11 cases of American Home Mortgage, Dana Corporation, and Collins & Aikman and numerous out-of-court matters.
He is listed in, among others, the Turnarounds & Workouts "Outstanding Restructuring Lawyers" (listed numerous times) and in annual editions of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business and Chambers Global The World's Leading Lawyers, the Bankruptcy Law Section of The Best Lawyers in America, "America's Top 100" of the K&A Restructuring Reporter, Lawdragon's "America's Top 500 Lawyers," and Ohio Super Lawyers (2007). He is chair of the American College of Bankruptcy and a member of The American Law Institute. He is a member of the ABA (Executive Council of the Business Law Section and past chairman of the Commercial Financial Services Committee), the Ohio State Bar Association (past chairman of the Banking and Commercial Law Committee), and the Cleveland Bar Association. He is a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland program. He is also a member of the board of advisers of the Banking Law Review and a member of the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Bankruptcy Law and Practice. He has been a frequent lecturer and author on matters relating to his practice.
