David Carden practices in the area of business litigation and has extensive experience in the defense of complex securities, derivatives, commodities and foreign exchange fraud actions, class actions, libel, and other commercial matters. David cochairs the Firm's securities and shareholder litigation practice and has been responsible for representing clients in some of the largest securities fraud class actions ever litigated. He has represented clients in the defense and prosecution of claims concerning knock-out options, equity forwards and currencies, and various derivative instruments, including credit default swaps and total return swaps. David also has defended offshore CDO funds and their administrative agents in litigation brought by institutional investors. He also has been responsible for coordinating the defense of claims for clients who have been sued or filed claims in the courts of various foreign countries, including England, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Barbados, and the Netherland Antilles, and has arbitrated cases before the ICC. David has had extensive experience conducting discovery in foreign countries pursuant to the Hague Convention and pursuant to Letters Rogatory. A list of clients David has represented in major matters include Lehman Brothers, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch, Asia Pulp & Paper, and Westin Hotels.
