Symposium: Why the “Rule of Law” Matters More Than Ever
Jones Day's Tokyo Office
The Firm's Tokyo Office recently hosted a symposium on the rule of law.
The symposium featured a video keynote address by Mr. Ken Saito, the former Minister of Justice of Japan, regarding the Japanese government’s efforts to develop the rule of law not only in Japan, but in the wider region.
Following the keynote, of counsel Tadakatsu Sano moderated a panel discussion with Stephen J. Brogan, the Firm's former Managing Partner, and Professors Naoko Munakata and Kazuto Suzuki, both of the University of Tokyo School of Public Policy.
The panelists discussed the importance and future direction of the rule of law from various perspectives, including those of the United States and Japan, and the critical role that lawyers play in those developments.
