NXP litigates against competitor in 18-patent suit directed to RFID technology
Client(s) NXP Semiconductors N.V.
Jones Day represented NXP USA Inc. and NXP Semiconductors Netherlands B.V. in a patent infringement lawsuit against its competitor Impinj, Inc. in the Western District of Texas. Impinj alleged infringement of nine patents directed to radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. NXP asserted counterclaims for infringement of nine patents that also relate to RFID technology. Prior to the first scheduled trial, Jones Day obtained a favorable summary judgment ruling of no induced infringement for foreign sales that eliminated 90% of Impinj's damages request. Following the first of three scheduled trials, the matter was resolved in early 2024.
