In addition to transactional work, our Financial Services team regularly advises clients on a multitude of international, national and local regulatory and legislative matters, as well as matters related to their businesses, including outsourcing arrangements, intellectual property, and employment related issues. For financial services companies regulatory compliance has become a very high priority matter as regulators, especially in the major financial centers around the world, have increased the intensity of their focus in the light of financial scandals and international terrorism. Our Financial Services team has the expertise and experience with respect to the full range of securities and bank law compliance requirements including corporate governance, risk management, capital adequacy, complex financial transactions, anti money laundering and bank secrecy, and consumer protection and privacy. These areas of experience also provide a competitive advantage is assisting in the development and implementation of business expansion proposals, including new business activities and, together with our M&A team, mergers and acquisitions that usually involve, for financial institutions and banks in particular, complex regulatory proceedings.

Jones Day's litigators who are members of the Financial Services team have extensive experience in representing financial institutions in private civil litigation as well as criminal investigations and regulatory enforcement actions. This experience spans the full breadth of complex litigation, including class actions, under the federal securities laws and federal and state investor and consumer protection statutes. Team litigators are also uniquely qualified and experienced in litigating and providing pre-litigation counseling concerning claims involving some of the most innovative financial products including credit derivatives, currency and commodity derivatives and structured investment vehicles.
