Françoise Labrousse is a certified specialist in environmental law in France. She has extensive experience in management of environmental and health and safety matters for industrial and construction companies, climate change (emission trading), soil and groundwater contamination, waste management, chemical substances, oil and gas, energy, noise, occupational nuisances, asbestos, and European and international environmental law.
Françoise has represented multinational corporations, government-owned entities, and governments in environmental and health and safety disputes. Her litigation experience includes large, international, and domestic cases before arbitral tribunals and French courts. Her recent litigation assignments include the representation of: an African state in connection with the discharge of toxic waste from EU countries, a French chemical company against a Dutch company in an arbitration arising from the breach of representation and warranties concerning the compliance and remediation of industrial sites in various EU countries, and a multinational industrial company against the French administration in connection with the remediation of industrial sites following their closure.
Françoise also has handled environmental and health and safety aspects in M&A and corporate transactions, including environmental audits, due diligence, and drafting of environmental reps and warranties. Recent M&A assignments include the representation of a chemical group regarding the sale of industrial sites, a North African oil and gas company on the environmental aspects of its joint venture with a German industrial group, a French construction company on the environmental issues of the acquisition and of the sale of industrial companies, and a multinational company with an environmental audit to assert its potential environmental liabilities.
She has written many articles on environmental law, particularly on environmental liability issues and on contaminated soils and sites. She also teaches in the master of environmental law program at the University of Paris-XI (Sceaux).
She is cited yearly as one of the best environment lawyers in France in the guides Chambers Europe, PLC Which lawyer?, and The Legal 500 EMEA.
