When Jones Day opened its Frankfurt Office in 1991, it was one of the first U.S. law firms with an office in Germany. Since then, the Frankfurt Office has developed from a small operation focusing on mergers and acquisitions into a full-service office, with more than 35 professionals practicing in all areas of law relevant to businesses. Situated in one of Europe's main business and financial centers, the Frankfurt Office, jointly with the Firm's Munich Office opened in 2003, serves the entire German market. Our lawyers also work closely with a network of law firms in the countries of Eastern Europe and Scandinavia to serve our clients' needs in those jurisdictions.

We advise German and international corporate clients in fields such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and insolvency, antitrust and competition, capital markets, intellectual property (prosecution, litigation, and evaluation), and private equity and venture capital transactions. Other main areas of practice include real estate and real estate finance, information technology and communications law, labor and employment law, including German employees’ invention law, and German and international litigation and arbitration. Our legal skills go hand-in-hand with specific industry experience in sectors such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and chemicals. We have substantial experience structuring and implementing cross-border, multijurisdictional, and multidisciplinary projects and collaborate seamlessly with lawyers in the Firm’s 31 other offices on four continents. The technical skills of our patent attorneys focus on mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.

Complementing our international approach, our Frankfurt lawyers have solid ties to the local business community. Conveniently located in Frankfurt’s business district, the office regularly hosts seminars and discussion forums. We are an active member of the German-American Chamber of Commerce and support the activities of the Institute for Law and Finance of the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
