Jere Thomson is head of the Firm's M&A practice in North America and co-head of the corporate practice in the New York Office. Jere relocated to the Firm's New York Office in 1996, after spending five years in the London Office as coordinator of the Firm's corporate practice throughout Europe. Prior to moving to London, he was Firmwide head of Jones Day's corporate finance practice.
Jere has had primary Firm responsibility for supervising a wide variety of mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, and related matters. The Jones Day corporate clients he has assisted include:
• U.S. based companies: Chrysler, Dana, Dollar Thrifty Auto, Forbes, General Motors, IBM, Lincoln Electric, Reader's Digest Association, Reynolds American, Sprint Nextel, Verint Systems, and Williams Cos.
• Non-U.S. based companies: Bayer, EADS, Electrolux, Endesa, France Telecom, Hunting Group, Linde (BOC), Orient-Express Hotels, Petrobras, sanofi-aventis, Total, Toyota, and UPM-Kymmene.
He has also assisted financial institutions and investment firms and other significant entities.
Jere is a member of the ABA (Business Law Section and International Law and Practice Section). He is also a member of the Board of Advisors of the Institute for Law and Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and a member of The Council for the United States and Italy. Jere has spoken at seminars and other professional gatherings in the United States and Europe, including corporate governance seminars sponsored by The Conference Board.
