Since opening in 1986, Jones Day’s New York Office has provided a full range of legal services to local, national, and global clients.  In three decades, the Office has grown from 21 to almost 370 lawyers, making it the Firm’s largest office and one of the largest in New York City.

Our New York office is seamlessly integrated into Jones Day’s One Firm Worldwide philosophy, with New York attorneys working on deals, restructurings, and litigation with numerous attorneys resident in our other 31 offices. Practice leaders for eight of the Firm's global practices reside in New York, including Business Restructuring & Reorganization (Paul Leake), Capital Markets (Chris Kelly), Corporate Criminal Investigations (Charlie Carberry), Financial Institutions Litigation & Regulation (Jay Tambe, Brett Barragate), Intellectual Property (Brian Poissant), Mergers & Acquisitions (Bob Profusek), and Securities and Shareholder Litigation & SEC Enforcement (David Carden).

Our attorneys provide comprehensive legal services with particular emphasis on transactional matters (including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets, banking and finance, and real estate); business restructuring; tax; intellectual property; and a full array of litigation and arbitration services in areas such as appellate, labor and employment, general commercial, and products liability. Long before the onset of the current credit crisis, the attorneys of our Financial Institutions Litigation & Regulation practice were providing litigation, regulation, and transactional counseling to leading financial institutions related to sophisticated bank products such as CDOs and CDSs.

Although we are fully committed to Jones Day’s One Firm Worldwide approach, we are very active in and knowledgeable about the New York marketplace.  Our lawyers participate in New York charitable projects, serve on major non-profit boards here, and provide pro bono legal services to local clients. We counsel clients regarding asylum, criminal appeals, domestic violence, veterans benefits, not-for-profit incorporation, and tax-exempt applications. We serve as regular counsel to local non-profit organizations, including The Doe Fund, the East Harlem School, the American Jewish Committee, Brooklyn Child and Family Services, and several arts organizations.  We also participate in non-legal service activities including East Harlem’s Christo Rey student employment program and Operation Santa’s efforts to provide toys and clothes to local families.
