Sabine Felix heads Jones Day's real estate finance practice in Germany. She is counsel to global investment banks, such as Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley for which she has done substantial work, and to institutional investors on the financing of their real estate investments in Germany and other European jurisdictions. Her experience as a transactional and finance lawyer includes residential and commercial transactions, including major portfolio transactions. In 2004, she advised U.S. investor Fortress on the financing of the acquisition of the GAGFAH group, a major German housing company. She has substantial experience in the structuring of real estate lending transactions that are suitable for a subsequent securitization of the loans. Sabine has also advised on several real estate finance restructurings. In 2006, The Legal 500 listed her as one of the most recommended acquisition finance and real estate finance lawyers in the German market.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2006, Sabine was a junior partner in the banking and finance practice of Linklaters and in-house legal counsel at Eurohypo AG, a major European mortgage bank. Sabine was also trained as a banker and spent several years at Dresdner Bank and at Deutsche Bank as credit analyst and real estate finance consultant before she qualified as a lawyer.
