Founded in 2000 by experienced corporate and litigation lawyers from Jones Day's largest offices, the Firm's Silicon Valley Office, which now has more than 60 lawyers, has grown via an infusion of talent with lawyers who have made their careers in the world's premier technology center.
Our practice is focused on the challenges and opportunities facing technology-based companies. We help build the structure for our clients' success with our sophisticated private equity, M&A, capital markets, and corporate practices. We help our clients create their most important assets with our experience in life sciences, licensing, and portfolio management. And we help our clients protect and enjoy the fruits of their hard work through our nationally recognized IP, patent prosecution, commercial and securities litigation, and antitrust teams. The Office works closely with the Firm's four other California offices to provide a complete array of legal services.
For more than 100 years, professional client service has been the hallmark of Jones Day’s practice philosophy. Our focus on building long-term client relationships derives from our desire to develop a thorough understanding of every client’s business and from a professional commitment to our clients’ success. Jones Day attorneys focus on our clients’ immediate objectives and anticipate their long-term requirements. By securing the necessary resources locally and throughout our fully-integrated global network of offices, we respond effectively to our clients’ growing needs long into the future.
The lawyers in the Silicon Valley Office have contributed generously to help improve the quality of life in our community. For example, our lawyers are deeply involved in a number of charitable organizations, including San Mateo County Public Health Department and Social Services, Friends Outside in Santa Clara County, Family Giving Tree, and the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County. Our Pro Bono projects include assisting victims of domestic violence; working with family members to obtain guardianship of abandoned children; and assisting nonprofit organizations. In addition, the Office sponsors and participates in community activities such as Law Day.
