Shawn Organ is a trial lawyer who has focused his practice on defending some of the nation's largest corporations in class actions and complex commercial disputes throughout the United States. His representations in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts have included: defending Fortune 20 corporations in complex multidistrict litigation, securities class actions, ERISA class actions, derivative cases, and subprime class actions. Shawn also has conducted e-commerce compliance audits and advised clients regarding e-commerce best practices related to the FCRA, FACTA, COPPA, the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative, and Section 5 of the FTC Act. These representations have led to several trials and multiple appearances before the Ohio Supreme Court and the Sixth Circuit.

With a passion for trial work and a desire to give back to the community and his profession, Shawn taught trial advocacy at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law for seven years and volunteered his time for four years to teaching and mentoring an inner city mock trial team for a national competition.

Recognizing his interest in teaching and pro bono legal services, Jones Day tapped Shawn to serve as the Columbus office's lawyer training partner and pro bono partner. Under his guidance, Jones Day Columbus was recognized by the Columbus Bar Foundation as Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year. Over the past few years Jones Day Columbus has had its number of hours committed to pro bono legal services as well as its percentage of lawyers involved in committing 50 or more hours to pro bono legal services dramatically increase.
