Vladimir Lechtman is Partner-in-Charge of the Moscow Office. His practice focuses on cross-border M&A and capital markets transactions. Vladimir has 20 years of experience in transactions involving oil and gas, telecom, and financial services industries. He has acted as lead counsel in some of the most significant transactions involving Russia. Most recently he led the Jones Day teams representing Rosneft in the formation of a $3.6 billion joint venture with Sinopec to own and manage Udmurtneft and Alfa Group in connection with its $3.3 billion joint venture with the Cukurova Group to hold a 27 percent stake in Turkcell. He also led the Jones Day teams representing Alfa Group and Access-Renova Group (AAR) in the formation of TNK-BP, a joint venture with BP plc involving the contribution of oil and gas assets valued at $18 billion, the largest Russian cross-border M&A transaction to date; representing AAR in the $1.35 billion sale of AAR's 49.5 percent equity interest in Slavneft to TNK-BP; and representing Alfa Group in the $3.7 billion monetization by AAR of their respective rights to future delivery of BP ordinary shares.
