Major Japanese transport machine manufacturer complies with trade regulations involving export to China
Client(s) Major Japanese transport machine manufacturer
In January 2006, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry filed a criminal complaint against Jones Day's client, a Japanese transport machine company, for allegedly exporting unmanned helicopters to another country in violation of the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Control Law which bans the unlicensed export of products that could be diverted to military use. In 2007, the Japanese government (customs) suspended preferential treatment on export procedure for the client. We advised the client to establish the enhanced compliance office of security product export.
