UPMC wins FTC clearance to acquire Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh

Jones Day provided antitrust advice to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in connection with its $120 million acquisition of Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. UPMC is the largest health care delivery system in Pennsylvania, and the transaction was investigated extensively by the Federal Trade Commission (which issued a Second Request) and the Pennsylvania Attorney General, both of which ultimately approved the transaction.
