NII Holdings completes $811 million tower transaction with American Tower

Client(s) NII Holdings, Inc.

Jones Day advised NII Holdings, Inc., a provider of differentiated mobile communication services operating under the Nextel brand in Latin America, in the monetization of its approximately 2,790 towers in Brazil and 1,666 towers in Mexico to American Tower Corporation for $811 million, subject to adjustments. Both Nextel Brazil and Nextel Mexico agree to leaseback the towers from American Tower for a minimum 12 year initial lease term and have the option to extend the lease for additional renewal periods.
