Experian and other national credit reporting agencies resolve investigation by 31 state attorneys general

Jones Day represented Experian Information Solutions, Inc. in responding to a multi-state Attorney General consumer protection investigation by thirty-one states into the credit reporting industry. The investigation, which examined the credit reporting activities of Experian and the other national credit reporting agencies, Equifax Information Services, LLC and TransUnion LLC, was resolved after extensive negotiations resulted in a comprehensive agreement among the credit reporting agencies and the thirty-one state Attorneys General. The agreement provides consumers with new initiatives relating to credit report accuracy, dispute processing, and enhancements to AnnualCreditReport.com, while resolving the investigation without a finding of any wrongdoing.
