VUMC acquires Tennova Shelbyville and Tullahoma Hospitals from Community Health Systems, Inc., and acquire minority interest in Tennova Clarksville Hospital

Jones Day advised Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in its acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Tennova Healthcare-Shelbyville, a 60-bed hospital located in Shelbyville, Tennessee, and Tennova Healthcare-Harton, a 135-bed hospital located in Tullahoma, Tennessee, from subsidiaries of Community Health Systems.

In addition, Jones Day advised VUMC in its acquisition of a minority interest in Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville, a 270-bed hospital located in Clarksville, Tennessee. VUMC acquired the minority interest from a subsidiary of Clarksville Volunteer Health, and once the transaction closes, will partner with a subsidiary of Community Health Systems (the majority owner) in the operation of Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville.
