Southern Company invests in $3 billion expansion of the Southern Natural Gas' pipeline system

Jones Day advised Southern Company in connection with its approval of and proposed investment in Southern Natural Gas Company’s planned South System 4 pipeline expansion project designed to increase SNG’s South Line capacity by approximately 1.2 billion cubic feet per day. Upon completion, the approximately $3 billion project will help meet growing power generation and local distribution company demand in the Southeast markets. SNG is a joint venture between Southern Company and Kinder Morgan that currently owns and operates more than 7000 miles of pipeline extending from supply basins in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama to market areas in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
