Satellite operator wins multi-million dollar award in arbitration against commercial satellite launcher

In April 2011, the AAA's International Centre for Dispute Resolution issued a multi-million dollar award in favor of a satellite operator, represented by Jones Day, in connection with its contract claim against a commercial satellite launcher.

At issue in the case was whether the satellite operator properly cancelled the launch contract as a result of the satellite launcher's failure to establish a timely launch heritage for its launch vehicle. The forty-nine page award followed fifteen months of preliminary proceedings and six days of evidentiary hearings.
