Client, suffering from bipolar disorder, receives full Social Security Disability benefits
Client(s) Client MR
Daniella Einik, Jones Day Washington, helped a single male secure Social Security Disability benefits on appeal at the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review. The client who suffers from bipolar disorder and post traumatic stress disorder first applied in 2009 and was denied benefits initially and on reconsideration. The client then applied for a hearing and was told that his hearing would not be scheduled until February or March 2011. However, right before Christmas, he received a letter from SSA scheduling his hearing for January 2011. In three short weeks, Daniella was able to work through hospital bureaucracy and the holiday season to acquire the client's medical records and obtain capacity assessments from the client's physicians. With Daniella's help, the client was able to present a case to the ALJ that was fully supported by medical documents in the record. Post hearing, Daniella again maneuvered through hospital records departments to obtain further records proving the client's disability. In February 2011, almost 2 years to the month since he first applied for benefits, the client received a fully favorable decision and has already started the process to receive his benefits.
