Non-profit organization's child day care center license successfully defended
Client(s) Boys and Girls Club of Garden Grove
Jones Day Irvine successfully represented the local chapter of a national non-profit organization against an Accusation from the California Department of Social Services (the "Department") in which the Department threatened to revoke the client's child day care center license under the California Child Day Care Facilities Act, Health and Safety Code section 1596.70 et seq. After we were retained, the Department asked for an extension of time for it to hold a hearing on the matter. Citing the client's right to a hearing within 90 days after receipt of its Notice of Defense, we declined the Department's extension request and refused to discuss proposed settlement options that would include the client going on any form of probation. The Department subsequently withdrew their Accusation resulting in a complete victory for the client.
