DIRECTV distributors prevail on summary judgment to successfully fend off patent infringement claims brought by Global Communications involving distribution of satellite signals

Client(s) DIRECTV Group, Inc., The

Jones Day represented four DIRECTV distributors in a patent infringement action related to the distribution of satellite TV signals. Global Communications asserted 8 patents against the DIRECTV distributors. The DIRECTV distributors prevailed on summary judgment, knocking out over 95% of the products at issue. After DIRECTV's summary judgment win, Global Communications dismissed the remaining case with prejudice.
