Sybase obtains settlement in patent infringement claim related to mobile security technology

Jones Day reached a settlement for Sybase, Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAP) in a patent infringement action brought in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California relating to mobile security technology.  Softvault Systems had sued Sybase on March 5, 2012 for patent infringement on two patents issued for "Method and System for Embedded Automated Component-Level Control of Computer Systems and Other Complex Systems" and "Method and System for Embedded, Automated, Component-Level Control of Computer Systems and Other Complex Systems."  Sybase denied infringement.  The parties entered into a confidential settlement agreement resolving the lawsuit.
