Cree defends claims of infringement based on Honeywell patents directed to white LEDs
Client(s) Cree, Inc.
Jones Day defended Cree, Inc. from patent infringement claims brought by Honeywell Inc. in New Jersey concerning two patents directed to white LEDs, one of which had been re-issued by the USPTO in light of Cree's products. The case involved a significant portion of Cree's product line. In response, Cree brought an action against Honeywell in Wisconsin alleging infringement of four (4) patents relating to LED backlights concerning Honeywell's industrial and aerospace product lines. The Wisconsin case was scheduled for trial before the New Jersey case. The two cases were resolved by favorable settlement.
