Jones Day represented Alpha Natural Resources Inc., which emerged from bankruptcy on July 26, 2016, less than one year after the commencement of its chapter 11 cases. Jones Day also represented Alpha Natural Resources in its sale, concurrent with emergence from bankruptcy, of certain assets to Contura Energy Inc, including two Powder River Basin mine complexes in Wyoming, all of the company's Pennsylvania coal operations and certain reserves and the Nicholas, McClure, and Toms Creek mine complexes in West Virginia and Virginia.
