Undocumented mother and son obtain victory in asylum trial, gaining legal status to remain in United States

Jones Day successfully represented an undocumented mother and son who fled violence and persecution in Guatemala in order to obtain legal status in the United States. Working from within the Dilley Detention Center in south Texas, Jones Day represented the family throughout the pre-trial and trial process, which included three different courts over a 14-week period. The clients ultimately received asylum and withholding of removal, allowing both mother and son to remain lawfully in the United States.
