Loma Linda University Medical Center forms clinically integrated network

Jones Day advised Loma Linda University Medical Center, an academic medical and research center that operates some of the largest clinical programs in the United States, in connection with the development of University Preferred Health Partners (UPHP), a clinically integrated network serving the Inland Empire region of Southern California.
UPHP, a unique, public-private joint venture with a county-owned hospital and one of the Inland Empire region’s largest multispecialty medical groups, will coordinate the delivery of care provided by a network of health care providers in a manner intended to improve care access, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
In connection with the representation, Jones Day advised Loma Linda on matters related to joint venture formation, the implementation of effective governance structures, provider network development, payor contracting strategies, compliance with California State insurance laws (Knox-Keene Act), labor and employment matters, and antitrust compliance.
