AKSM involved in joint ventures with urologists regarding lithotripsy, radiation therapy, and related urologic procedures

Client(s) American Kidney Stone Management, Ltd (AKSM)

Jones Day has been assisting American Kidney Stone Management, Ltd. ("AKSM"), a leading national lithotripsy provider, with joint venture syndication work relating to lithotripsy, as well as most ancillary urology related lines of business. The ventures include greenlight/holmium laser, cryotherapy, integrated group practice multi-state models, nursing home care coordination, IMRT/IGRT with urology supergroup practices, HIFU, pharmacy ventures related to urology, lithotripsy for pancreatic stones, and men’s clinic concepts. In addition, Jones Day represented AKSM in a qui tam matter related to the lithotripsy joint venture model wherein the government ultimately refused to intervene. Corporate governance, transactional, health care regulatory, and tax advice were also provided regarding its partial sale to a private equity firm.
