Joint administrators of Angelic Interiors seek insolvency advice relating to Triangle Site assets

Jones Day acted for the joint administrators of Angelic Interiors Limited (in administration) in relation to a number of applications made under the Insolvency Act 1986. This included an application issued for the purpose of investigating the alleged misappropriation of Angelic's assets (which included numerous properties located near Canary Wharf, London, known as the Triangle Site) by Julia Davey (the company's former sole director and shareholder). Interim applications granted in favor of the joint administrators included (i) a private examination of Ms. Davey; and (ii) an interim injunction to secure the Triangle Site and the rental income derived therefrom. Judgment was awarded in favor of the joint administrators on 31 October 2018 following the hearing of their application for (i) a declaration of beneficial ownership in respect of the Triangle Site; and (ii) orders for the transfer of the Triangle Site to Angelic. The transfer of the Triangle Site to Angelic was completed in January 2019.

Jones Day has also acted in an associated planning appeal relating to the demolition of three properties on the Triangle Site (located in a conservation area) without planning permission, prior to the administration of Angelic. This necessitated Angelic's appealing enforcement notices on the properties to seek to protect the market value of the properties, first at a planning enquiry in November 2018, and then at appeal to the High Court in August 2019.
