Pretrial detainee alleging excessive force and inadequate medical care by state officials obtains Ninth Circuit reversal

The Ninth Circuit appointed Jones Day associate, Justin Beck, to represent Donallen McFarlin, a pretrial detainee whose excessive force and inadequate medical care claims had been dismissed in the district court. After briefing and argument, the court issued a complete reversal on all claims, holding that Mr. McFarlin's complaint stated a claim and permitting him to proceed to discovery.
