Merck resolves trade secret dispute involving vaccine

Jones Day represented Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. as plaintiff in a trade secret lawsuit filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Pfizer Inc. and a former Merck employee. The case arose from Pfizer’s hiring of a former Merck employee and that employee’s alleged misappropriation of Merck trade secrets for use in a directly competing vaccine program. The matter concluded as part of a settlement of worldwide legal proceedings between Merck and Pfizer related to vaccines.
