Seiko Epson resolves patent infringement dispute involving wi-fi capable consumer electronics

Jones Day represented Seiko Epson Corporation and its subsidiary, Epson Precision Philippines, Inc., in defense of a patent infringement action brought by American Patents LLC. On September 15, 2021, American Patents filed a complaint asserting four patents against the two Seiko Epson defendants in the Eastern District of Texas, alleging infringement by printer, projector, and other consumer electronic products that have wi-fi capability. On December 21, 2021, Jones Day filed a DJ action in California on behalf of subsidiary Epson America in response to the Texas action. Both cases were dismissed in June 2022 pursuant to a joint stipulation by the parties.
