Community Medical Centers wins summary adjudication against medical staffing group on breach of contract claim

Jones Day secured summary adjudication on behalf of Fresno Community Hospital and Medical Center, a leading provider network in Central California, on its breach of contract claim against a medical staffing group. This victory is part of an ongoing multi-defendant suit over the abrupt cessation of neurosurgery call coverage services at CMC's trauma center in September 2020. The court quoted Jones Day's reply brief in its order finding that the staffing group had breached its obligation to ensure that CMC had access to the neurosurgeons who provided call coverage. Jones Day continues to represent CMC on its remaining causes of action, including tortious inducement to breach and interference with economic relationship against other defendants that caused the breach of contract.
