Group of LLCs reach settlement after two-week jury trial

Jones Day represented a group of foreign-owned commercial real estate investment companies against a financial institution in a two-week jury trial in the Northern District of Georgia. The financial institution granted allegedly fraudulent loans that were taken out against the investors' United States properties. At trial, the investors tried conspiracy and negligence claims and asked the jury to award compensatory and punitive damages. On the eve of closing argument, the parties reached a mutual resolution of the matter.
