Adventist Health maintains access to emergency services for Montebello community through chapter 11 sale

Jones Day advised Adventist Health in connection with its acquisition of certain assets of Beverly Community Hospital Association through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, which closed on September 6, 2023 and allowed Adventist Health to advance ongoing access to necessary emergency department services for the Montebello community in East Los Angeles.

In addition to navigating the sale process through a chapter 11 proceeding, the transaction required Jones Day to advise Adventist Health on the consolidation of the new site under Adventist Health White Memorial’s general acute care hospital license and negotiate terms and conditions with the California Attorney General for his conditional consent to the transaction in an unprecedented short period of time. The transaction also involved complex regulatory licensing and payment strategies to implement operations pursuant to a consolidated license.
