Los Angeles County successfully defends judgment in Equal Pay class action

On behalf of Los Angeles County, Jones Day obtained and successfully defended a judgment in favor of the County. Plaintiffs, representing a class of female attorneys, had brought an action under the California and federal Equal Pay Acts seeking civil service status, pay and benefits. The undisputed evidence established that county counsel and a legal service company both employed a substantial number of women and that within the company, women were paid the same as men.
