MasterCard defends UK antitrust investigation into interchange fees for credit card transactions
Client(s) MasterCard International
Jones Day represented MasterCard in connection with an investigation by the UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) into MasterCard's current interchange fees for UK domestic credit and charge card transactions. In 2006, Jones Day represented MasterCard in its successful appeal to the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal of the OFT's 2005 Decision outlawing MasterCard's historic interchange fee arrangements. The OFT's 2005 Decision was declared null and void and MasterCard was awarded significant costs in its favour.
