Ted Powers represents sponsors, acquirers, targets, and financial advisors in multibillion dollar global mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt investments, and joint ventures (JVs). He also advises management and boards on strategic and governance matters. Ted's practice spans multiple industries, including technology, health care and life sciences, energy, financial services, and industrials.
In health care and life sciences, Ted has represented Sanofi in its €300 million investment into a JV with Orano Med to develop radiopharmaceutical drugs for rare cancers and Zebra Impact Ventures in a preferred investment in AgroSpheres. Prior to joining Jones Day, Ted represented a company sourcing medical devices in an investment by an alternative investment manager, LifeSpeak in its acquisition of Wellbeats, Melinta Therapeutics in its acquisition of an infectious disease business unit, and Auxilium Pharmaceuticals in its sale to Endo International.
Ted has an increased focus on energy transition matters, including hydrogen and carbon capture and storage. He currently represents Terawatt Infrastructure in a variety of matters and has represented Nova Infrastructure in the acquisition of solar assets. Prior to joining Jones Day, Ted represented Terawatt in connection with investments by Vision Ridge Partners, Keyframe Capital, and Cyrus Capital Partners. He also represented Allianz Global Investors in its acquisition of the equity of a solar farm in California and Complete Solar Holding Corporation in its merger with The Solaria Corporation and subsequent business combination with a publicly traded SPAC (special purpose acquisition company).
In addition, Ted previously represented Atalaya Capital Management in the formation of a real estate JV with Seashine Capital and Polymer Modifier Partners in the sale of Techmer to SK Capital Partners and recapitalization by Gryphon Investors.
