Victoria Powell focuses her practice on appellate and complex trial litigation. Her litigation experience includes products liability law, class actions, multidistrict litigation, and regulatory litigation against government entities. She has been a member of products liability trial teams and has argued cases in state appellate courts.

Before joining Jones Day, Victoria served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Georgia Solicitor General's Office, where she represented the state in high-stakes appeals and multistate litigation. This included a landmark sovereign immunity case before the Georgia Supreme Court (Lathrop v. Deal) and a challenge brought by a coalition of states to the 2015 Waters of the United States Rule, which resulted in the states successfully obtaining an injunction against the federal government.

  • R.J. Reynolds prevails in Florida Supreme Court appeal involving interpretation of punitive damages statuteJones Day successfully represented R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company before the Florida Supreme Court in an Engle progeny appeal presenting an issue concerning interpretation of Florida's punitive damages statute.
  • R.J. Reynolds wins complete defense verdict in Massachusetts wrongful death lawsuitOn November 17, 2021, following three and a half weeks of trial, a jury in state court in Lowell, Massachusetts returned a complete defense verdict in favor of Jones Day client, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, in a wrongful death case.
