Yizhe Zhang has extensive experience with complex antitrust and competition law issues. She represents clients in merger reviews, antitrust government investigations and enforcement actions, antitrust counseling and compliance, and private antitrust litigation. She has worked across numerous industries, including automotive, aviation, chemical, technology, pharmaceuticals, energy/natural resources, retail, and transportation.
Her experience includes significant Chinese government antitrust investigations of proposed mergers and acquisitions, such as Tokyo Electron's merger with Applied Materials, Baxter's acquisition of Gambro, Gavilon's acquisition by Marubeni, and Goodrich's acquisition by UTC. She also assists clients in conduct investigations by Chinese regulators in the automotive, health care, consumer products, and other industries.
Before joining the Firm, Yizhe worked for China's Anti-Monopoly Office of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and was heavily involved in the drafting of the PRC Anti-Monopoly Law and other regulations for foreign mergers and acquisitions. She worked in Jones Day's Washington Office before relocating to Beijing.
She is a coauthor of Anti-Monopoly Law and Practice (Oxford University Press, 2011), a treatise on competition law in China, and Competition Law In China: Laws, Regulations, and Cases (Oxford University Press, 2014). She is a contributor of the China chapter of the book Antitrust Issues in International Intellectual Property Licensing Transactions (ABA Publication, 2012). She frequently publishes articles related to China's Anti-Monopoly Law.
