Former IRS Trial Attorney Michael Coravos joins Jones Day in Boston

Michael Coravos has joined Jones Day as of counsel in the Tax Practice. He will be based in the Boston Office.

Mr. Coravos has served in the Internal Revenue Service, Office of Chief Counsel for nearly 15 years, most recently as a Special Trial Attorney in the Strategic Litigation Division. He has broad experience litigating cases before the United States Tax Court, including cases involving transfer pricing, cost sharing arrangements, platform contribution transactions, subpart F income, hybrid financial instruments, and other complex corporate transactions. He also previously served as an advisor to the Large Business and International Division and Independent Office of Appeals on a variety of international and domestic tax matters related to the federal income tax audits of multinational corporations and partnerships.

"Michael is a skilled tax lawyer and highly accomplished trial attorney with deep experience across all stages of tax litigation, including pre-trial discovery, drafting legal memoranda and pleadings, working with expert witnesses, and trying cases in the federal courts," said Edward T.
