Jones Day partner Eric Tung named to Los Angeles Business Journal’s list of “Leaders of Influence: Thriving in Their Forties”

Jones Day partner Eric Tung has been named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s list of “Leaders of Influence: Thriving in Their Forties.” The editors select the designated professionals based on a demonstration of their “impact made on the profession and on the Los Angeles community.”

Mr. Tung is a commercial litigator who argues and writes briefs in federal and state courts around the country at the trial and appellate levels on behalf of notable clients in the health care, labor and employment, construction, and financial technology sectors. Mr. Tung recently led a team that secured a major win for a regional hospital association resulting in the invalidation of a law that prohibited health care employers from adjusting to cost burdens imposed by an increased minimum wage. That decision will have significant ramifications for labor law and the health care industry. Mr. Tung is a former clerk to two U.S. Supreme Court Justices and has served in the U.S. Department of Justice and as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Central District of California in Los Angeles.

Recently, the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court appointed Mr. Tung to serve on the Appellate Indigent Defense Oversight Advisory Committee—a special committee of the Chief Justice consisting of appellate court justices from each of the six appellate districts, two appellate project directors, one criminal appellate practitioner, and one civil appellate practitioner—to provide the California Supreme Court with policy recommendations and to perform audits related to the Court-Appointed Counsel program.
