Qualcomm pursues patent infringement claims against Apple relating to non-standard-essential patents for mobile electronic devices
Client(s) Qualcomm Incorporated
Jones Day represented Qualcomm Incorporated against Apple Inc. in a patent infringement lawsuit regarding non-standard-essential patents for mobile electronic devices. The asserted patents disclose and claim Qualcomm technologies including RF transceiver technologies that reduce power consumption and signal interference, power-efficient and high-performance architectures for processor and memory components, and advanced image processing techniques using a dual-camera mobile electronic device.
The lawsuit settled in April 2019 when Qualcomm and Apple reached a global settlement of all litigation between the companies worldwide. The settlement included payment by Apple to Qualcomm, a six-year license agreement with a two-year option to extend, and a multiyear chipset supply agreement.
