George Hill practices commercial litigation with a focus on resolving complex and high-value disputes, often with a cross-border dimension. He has particular experience advising on contractual disputes and contentious insolvency matters. Ranked as a "key lawyer" in civil litigation, The Legal 500 describes George as "impossibly hard-working," "clever," and "amazing."
George is currently acting for the liquidators of the BHS group of companies on its high-profile investigations into one of the largest retail collapses in the United Kingdom. As part of the widely anticipated BHS Judgments, George helped deliver the United Kingdom's largest-ever wrongful trading award and successfully established a novel "Trading Misfeasance" law.
George's other recent experience includes acting for a private offshore bank in relation to claims valued at more than £400m threatened by a liquidator of English companies, arising from an alleged international scam based on missing trader intercompany fraud, raising issues of liability for fraud, dishonest assistance, fraudulent trading, and breach of fiduciary duties.
