Michael S.Quinlan

Mike Quinlan is a trial lawyer with experience in more than 20 cases tried to verdict. Mike's practice focuses on product liability and complex commercial litigation, including multidistrict litigation (MDL), class actions, mass tort, public corruption, and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) investigations. Mike also has experience in intellectual property litigation, recently serving as trial counsel before the International Trade Commission (ITC) in a patent dispute, obtaining a decision banning import of a competitor's infringing product

As trial counsel, Mike has conducted direct and cross-examinations of fact and expert witnesses, including oncologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, epidemiologists, and economic damages experts. He has handled jury instructions, charge conferences, and argued significant motions, including motions for summary judgment and motions for new trial. He is also involved in the preparation of cases for trial, including consulting with expert witnesses, taking and defending depositions, working with jury consultants, and all other aspects of discovery. He has been involved in Jones Day's defense of product liability lawsuits brought against R.J. Reynolds in Florida, Massachusetts, and across the country. His other representations have included Sherwin-Williams, FirstEnergy, and Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL).

Mike is also active in Jones Day's pro bono practice and serves as the Firm's representative in The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland's Partners in Justice Program. He has represented pro bono clients in litigation in federal and state courts, and he regularly attends local free advice clinics sponsored in conjunction with The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.
