In February of 2015, Jones Day client R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company successfully defended an "Engle progeny" lawsuit. After securing a pretrial ruling dismissing the majority of the plaintiff's claims, R.J. Reynolds secured a defense verdict on the remaining significant issue, entitlement to punitive damages.
